Nevada Sunrise Gold Corp History
In the aftermath of the 1997-2000 collapse in the precious metal prices and consequent reduction of worldwide exploration budgets, many exceptional exploration properties in Nevada became available for little cost. In August 2000, Bill Henderson, the former President and CEO of Nevada Sunrise Gold Corporation ("Nevada Sunrise") assembled a portfolio of high-quality gold properties in Nevada through a private company, Nevada Sunrise LLC ("NSL"). Nevada Sunrise was subsequently formed in April 2007 to explore and develop highly-prospective mineral exploration properties held by NSL. Nevada Sunrise was listed for trading on the TSX Venture Exchange in September 2008 under the trading symbol "NEV".
Nevada Sunrise currently holds interests in two Nevada gold exploration properties. Our flagship property is Golden Arrow, a volcanic-hosted advanced gold exploration property near Tonopah, in Nye County. This is complemented by Kinsley Mountain, a former producing gold deposit in Elko County, located about 45 miles southeast of the Long Canyon gold deposit that was acquired in 2011 by way of the purchase of Fronteer Mining for $2.3 billion by Newmont Mining Inc. The Kinsley Mountain property is a joint venture with Pilot Gold Inc., the same management and exploration team that discovered and developed Long Canyon, with Pilot Gold Inc. holding a 78% interest and Nevada Sunrise holding a 22% interest.
